A local section of the Aerial League of Australia was formed 5 Nov. 1909 at a public meeting at the Town Hall of Adelaide at which time a provisional committee was formed. Some 30 people attended and the majority enrolled as members. At a follow-up meeting on 18 Nov. 1909 at the Automobile Club, 33 members were enrolled and rules recommended by the provisional committee were adopted. The objectives were to give an impulse to the scientific study of aerial navigation, to promote intercourse between those interested in the subject, and to aid them with advice and instruction. The rules also provided for a library and a museum.
The meeting on 5 Nov. 1909 was convened by a committee appointed at the recent annual meeting of the Automobile Club of South Australia.
