This small facility, the Archives générales du Royaume 2 - dépôt Joseph Cuvelier, or Algemeen Rijksarchief 2 – Depot Joseph Cuvelier, located at Rue du Houblon-Hopstraat 26-28, Brussels, Belgium, is an adjunct to the State Archives of Belgium. It was from said facility that we were directed to the AGR 2 - Cuvelier, and this latter crucial in the accessing of patent originals filed in Belgium and in the accessing of Belgian Recueil des Brevets d'Invention volumes, in which patent numbers, inventor names, and other pertinent data is contained and properly ordered. This establishment is one of many. The other "dépôts" may contain material pertinent to our studies.

Self-service is allowed and encouraged, regarding use of Recueil des Brevets d'Invention volumes. The staff are most helpful with access to originals, and with the scanning thereof. There are in-house catalogue-oriented computers, and the staff are helpful regarding pointers on what may be found online. The greatest find on this front, however, consists in the accessibility of further antique catalogue data, which may lead one back to the originals, and thereby back to the AGR 2 - Cuvelier facility itself.

A charm of the place, is that it is strictly a per se archival facility, first and foremost, as opposed to a patent processing facility more driven and characterized by current market and proprietary needs. It exists in the interests of Belgium's national patrimony. It exists for historians.
